It has a large conservatory overlooking the garden with the alt girnaig burn (river) running down the side of the cottage. At the back of the cottage there is an oak wood where you will see red squirrels feeding at two feeders. There are a number of walks from the cottage to the pass of killliecrankie and the national trust visitor centre and also to the rspb (royal society for the protection of birds)bird sanctury in the hills opposite the cottage. The walks from the bird sanctuary give specatular views of the area.

Squirrel cottage is located at killiecrankie which is at scotland's centre. Inverness and loch ness are 1 hour 30 mins by car, so is st andrews the home of golf. Killiecrankie is in highland perthshire with spectacular highland scenery. Blair castle is 3 miles away; it is the ancient home of the dukes and earls of atholl and the only legal private army in europe, the atholl highlanders. Pitlochry theatre, the theatre in the hills, has a rolling summer repertoire of 6 plays each week. There are two distilleries within 4 miles including edradour the smallest distillery in scotland. You will not be disappointed with the range of activities and places to visit.
